Sour Apple Gingerbeer

This drink is absolutely refreshing, and is tied to such a warm and beautiful memory for my lord’s house. While spending time with family in North Carolina for the Feast of Dedication, a beautiful sister of ours and I prepared a similar drink one evening when serving the men. It was something we put together on the fly, but the men loved it! Since then, I’ve been working to tweak and perfect that drink, which led to this tasty creation. With a few critical additions and twists, this drink is now a refreshment I’m honored to serve the elect of Israel. This drink is perfect to serve for a Feast Day or special dinner/event. I hope you love it!

Drink Ingredients

  • Juice of 10 limes (nice sized, not too small)

  • 1 – 12 oz can frozen lime-aid concentrate

  • 2 cups apple cider

  • 9 cups ginger beer

  • 3/4 cup simple syrup (recipe below to be made beforehand)

Directions

  • Squeeze limes directly into the container you are preparing the refreshment in.
  • Add full can of frozen lime concentrate, apple cider, and ginger beer, and stir to incorporate.
  • Add simple syrup and sweeten to your desired taste. I use 1/2 – 3/4 of a cup.
  • Once the taste is to your liking, dress with lime and green apple slices. Finish with a sprig of mint. Enjoy!!

Ginger Mint Simple Syrup Ingredients

  • 4 cups water

  • 2 cups white sugar

  • 1 cup brown sugar

  • 1 inch fresh ginger

  • 6 peppermint teabags

Simple Syrup Directions

  • In a medium sauce pot, add fresh ginger and water and bring to a boil. Once boiling, add both sugars and completely dissolve.
  • Once sugars dissolved, remove pot from heat and add teabags. Allow to steep until mixture cools.
  • Once cooled, remove teabags, squeezing out any retained water. Pour into a container and refrigerate for future use.

Bear in mind that you will have plenty of simple syrup left over to make about 5 gallons of this drink. Refrigerate for up to one month.
