Miriam’s Onion Patties

This dish is a perfect appetizer, and absolutely ideal for a quick snack. Lightly fried to achieve a delicate golden crust, these onion patties pair nicely for dipping! Try these instead of fries or onion rings for an unexpected burst of flavor.

The recipe below yields approximately 6-8 patties. Add some fresh herbs into the mix, or even your favorite spices to give it a kick you will enjoy!


  • 3/4 cup flour

  • 1 teaspoon sugar

  • 1 teaspoon cornmeal

  • 2 teaspoon baking soda

  • 3/4 cups of milk

  • 2 small onions, chopped

  • Oil for frying


  • Mix all ingredients well in a large bowl.
  • Fry on each side until golden brown as pictured.
  • Allow excess oil to drain and set aside until all of the mixture is fried. Enjoy!
