JuJu’s Fish Fry Mix

This fish fry mixture is delicious and super simple! With just a few ingredients, you will be able to enjoy the natural taste of the fish, with just the right amount of flavor.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup yellow cornmeal

  • 3 tablespoons flour

  • 2.5 tablespoons Badia Sazon Complete Seasoning

  • 1 tablespoon Tony Chachere’s Creole Seasoning

  • 1 teaspoon Salt of the Earth (Jacob or Rebekah’s Blend)

  • 1 tablespoon baking powder

Directions

  • Mix all ingredients together in a bag and use as desired.

The recipe above coats approximately 8-10 fillets of fish. The secret ingredient is the baking powder, so do NOT leave this out. This is what makes the crust nice and crispy.

I always dip my fish in a simple egg wash using egg and a couple splashes of milk beaten together, before coating with the mixture. The egg wash helps your fish hold on to the light and delicious crust. I use this fish fry in my Fried Fish Po Boy Wrap. It is a Sabbath fave among my family and friends! I hope you enjoy it as well!

If you don’t have Salt of the Earth yet, I highly recommend you getting it. In the meantime, use any seasoned salt you have on hand. Check out our Salt of the Earth, Spice it up Sunday segment to learn more about the product.
