Azariyah Judith’s Sorrel Beverage

Sorrel is a drink straight out of the tribe of Benjamin, and is known as a diuretic herb aiding in the maintenance of inflammation. Sorrel is more commonly known as Hibiscus, and also assists in the healthy flow of urine, and helps to treat bacterial infections.

  • 3 cups of dried hibiscus (sorrel)

  • 8 inches of fresh ginger

  • 4 cinnamon sticks

  • Peel of 2 oranges

  • Agave to taste (start with 1 cup and adjust as necessary)

  • 6 cups of water to dilute (if desired)

  • Simmer all the ingredients for at least 15 minutes. Simmer for up to 30/40 minutes for deeper flavor.
  • Allow to cool and refrigerate for a few hours or overnight.
  • Strain mixture to remove herbs, peels, and other solid bits.
  • Serve over ice after diluting with water if desired. You can also add rum for an amped up adult version. Enjoy!

Tip: Chop or grate the ginger for a more potent flavor. My version is a lot stronger than most. If you are afraid things may be too bold even with diluting, cut all ingredients listed in half and build from there to your liking.
